The Making Home Affordable (MHA) Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) expires(ed) on December 31, 2016. Therefore, all requests for mortgage assistance submitted after that date will be considered for any other available loan modification programs.
 
On January 17, 2013, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau released updated rules for mortgage servicers to protect consumers and provide them with better tools and information when dealing with mortgage servicers. These rules will go into effect on January 10, 2014. Consumers can learn about these updates from this page: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/regulations/
